Lovely Lindos

When visiting the island of Rhodes, the village of Lindos is a must-see. It’s winding streets and whitewashed buildings create scenes that are any Pinterest lover’s dream.

The city is completely pedestrianized, making it perfect for a stroll. But as this is quite a popular destination, it’s advised to arrive in the early morning before other tourists land and the streets become overrun.

What to visit

The Acropolis of Lindos is an impressive architectural site perched high above the village. The ruins are extremely well preserved, and offer breathtaking views over Saint Paul’s Bay and Lindos’ famous white buildings. The acropolis can be reached on foot or by “Lindos taxi” (a donkey).  Rides cost 5€ per donkey each way (keep in mind that the donkeys travel in pairs, meaning a minimum of 10€) and entry to the acropolis is 6€ per person.

Another point of interest is the ornate orthodox Church of Panagia. Getting lost amongst Lindos’ tiny streets and shops is also a fun way to spend the day.

Where to take a break

When walking up or down the main trail to the acropolis, keep an eye out for Melenos Lindos. Stop in for an ice-cold frappe and take in the exquisite views from your table.
