Let's Hit the Rhodes!

One of Paris’ many attributes is its proximity to a number of other fabulous European destinations. Taking off from Charles de Gaulle or Orly, some of the world’s most magical places are just a few hours away.

Recently, we embarked on a week-long getaway on the Greek island of Rhodes. Only 3 ½ hours from Paris, we landed in what can only be described as a dream: rolling mountains, tropical flowers, clear blue skies and the azure Mediterranean sea.

Our home base for the trip was the lesser-known resort town of Kolimbia. Quieter than some of the island’s more popular cities like Rhodes or Lindos, here we found our own little haven.

Where to stay

Located around 40 minutes from Diagoros International Airport, the Sentido Port Royal is an adults-only resort and spa with spectacular amenities, views and service. The staff are extremely warm and many speak impeccable English and/or French.

Upon arriving, guests are treated to a welcome cocktail in the lobby, followed by a golf cart tour of the resort and transport to their villa. It’s the details like this that really make the Port Royal stand out. Features include two beautiful outdoor pools, direct beach access, an indoor pool and spa, and three restaurants.

Where to eat

Taverna Manolis
Kolimbia, Greece
Taverna Manolis is a casual place where you’ll find delicious traditional Greek food at unbeatable prices. On one particular afternoon, we enjoyed a small feast here for just under 12€! (1 gyro, 1 chicken souvlaki, 1 beer, 1 bottle of water, 1 baklava + 2 small deserts on the house)

Tucked away in Nissaki Bay, Kapari Meat & Sea offers lovely seaside dining. Customers take in an exceptional view as they have their fill of a variety of Greek specialties.

Where to visit

Kolimbia is conveniently located between the cities of Rhodes and Lindos (more on that to come!). Each city can be easily accessed by public transport (around 40 minutes starting from the bus stop in front of the Sentido Port Royal). Bus fare is 3.50€ per person each way.

If staying local, you can wander down the famous Eucalyptus Street, which is home to a variety of laid-back tavernas, bars and souvenir shops.
