American Beauty: Art and Culture at the Mona Bismarck American Center

Paris is a city full of wonderful surprises. Recently, I received an invitation for a press conference at the Mona Bismarck American Center in the 16th. Having never heard of it before, my interest was piqued. After a little online research to check out this “mysterious” place, I happily RSVPed “oui”.

Housed in a magnificent hôtel particulier facing the Seine, the center is an exquisite space devoted to providing Parisians a window to American art and culture. It is the legacy of glamorous American philanthropist Mona Bismarck (1897-1983), who was once said to be "the best-dressed woman in the world".

On Friday morning, myself and a handful of others gathered in one of the center’s stunning rooms to discover the 2015 events program in the presence of Vice President Bianca M. Roberts, Director of Exhibitions and Programs Danielle Berger Fortier and Associate Director of Development Susan Uzzan.

Open to Parisians and non-Parisians alike, this year’s program promises to provide an exceptional mix of music, art and performances around 4 main axes: interdisciplinarity, movement, custom made and intimacy.

Visitors will discover an eclectic range of artists during intimate soirées, many of which will include a post-presentation cocktail reception to further encourage dialogue between those in attendance.

Below, a brief look at upcoming events over the next few months.
