Where's the beef?

As one of the food capitals of the world, Paris has no shortage of Michelin-starred restaurants and innovative cuisine but sometimes, all you really want, is to sink your teeth into a big fat juicy burger with all the fixings.

Luckily, American-style restaurants have really taken off here over the past few years, and there are quite a few to choose from when the craving hits.

Burger and fries at Happy Days Diner

Breakfast in America
One of Paris’ diner pioneers, Breakfast in America is a well-established name. Unfortunately because of its popularity, I’ve never actually succeeded in getting a table there! If you have time, and don’t mind a long wait, this restaurant comes highly recommended.

A little less-known, Chibby’s is a great place to get a taste of home. Prices are reasonable, the burgers and fries always come out fresh and their weekend brunch (including pancakes!) is one of the best that I’ve found to date.

With 6 locations across the city, you can almost always count on getting a table here. The food is consistently delicious, but portions are copious, so choose wisely if you want to make it to dessert!

This small gourmet burger joint is a must when you’re looking for a more grown-up version of your classic beef. Plus, they have amazing (and often difficult to find) sweet potato fries, that can’t be beat.

Doddy’s Coffee
A little out of the way in the suburb of Boulogne, Doddy’s Coffee is my latest favorite for American fare. They have a wide selection of cocktails, appetizers, burgers and sandwiches, as well as typical American desserts like Key Lime Pie and Cheesecake.

If you’re looking for a TGI Fridays kind of vibe, you can find it here. The burgers are nothing to write home about, but the central location, atmosphere and cocktails help make up for it.
